“It is so nice to see how passion and profession come together in Jimena and cultivate the perfect combination. That passion took her to Thailand, the Philippines, India and even New Zealand, to photograph their incredible natural landscapes in their almost untouched form. She has to live and get involved in whatever her camera captures, so the final image reflects not only a superficial image, but a moment full of feeling and life.”

When she was just 11 years old, she had her first experience in the amazing world of photography. The context couldn’t have been a better fit: her best friend who was in love with her neighbour, the sea by her house, her film-based Kodak camera, and a good story. “What an incredible love letter we have in these photos of beautiful you,” she remarked. “We need nothing more!”
I could spend hours telling stories about her, and I am amazed to see how with the passing of time, it all seemed planned beforehand. From the day that Jimena (when she was only 12 years old) fell in love with the name of her local fishing village’s hardware store (Volvoreta), to the days when she used to transform the bathroom into a darkroom for developing her photographs. She left behind her film-based Kodak camera and the name of Volvoreta, but one day it would become much more than a beautiful word to her.
Destiny later came full-circle. This time, she took part in her first “official” session for Vogue magazine. She was chosen to be the model for Oh Que Luna Fashion Company. She was 17 and after one hour posing she got bored and took the place behind the camera. Only one year later she became production manager for Telva, Vogue and Hola! magazines.
The rediscovery of photography and Jimena’s excellent artistic background gave her the tools to bring out the best of her creativity. This shines in everything she does, whether it is photographing a bride on her happiest day, putting together a fashion set of surfers playing the guitar, or just by making you smile in every moment you share with her and she has her camera on-hand.
It is so nice to see how passion and profession come together in Jimena and cultivate the perfect combination. That passion took her to Thailand, the Philippines, India and even New Zealand, to photograph their incredible natural landscapes in their almost untouched form. She has to live and get involved in whatever her camera captures, so the final image reflects not only a superficial image, but a moment full of feeling and life.
Words are not enough when you want to talk about Jimena; she is authentic, an example to follow, optimistic, supportive, honest and sensitive. I can say if I am her unconditional fan!

“What few knew is that behind one of the most beautiful photographs of the moment was a Spaniard. Jimena San Miguel, head of the agency Volvoreta, was chosen by Württemberg and Andigné to capture their union. Keep an eye on her because she could be the next one invited to Buckingham.”
